Holiday Tips

This summer, the Hamptons will be the place for retailers who are trying to attract all those beach goers. An article posted on The East Hampton Star reports on all the retailers leasing retail space in the Hamptons this summer. They include Hermes, Michael Kors, and Trina Turk.
J.Crew has expanded and will even have a Madewell 1937 store in the Hamptons this summer.
An expanded J. Crew will make its debut in a new space on Main Street tomorrow. At J. Crew’s former outpost on Newtown Lane, black paper obscures the windows of a sister store called Madewell, where fashion fiends can walk up to place detailed blue jean orders at a denim bar.
While Madewell is not set to open until next Thursday, a street team of girls sporting the brand, the brainchild of J. Crew’s C.E.O., Mickey Drexler, will spend the weekend handing out muslin tote beach bags stuffed with sun block and other goodies, including beach towels featuring “Hamptons maps according to Madewell.”
If you’ll be in the Hamptons this summer, here are the two J.Crew locations:
14 Main Street, East Hampton, NY
631-324-5034
84B Main Street, Southhampton, NY
631-287-2869
Ombré beach hat, $28.00, Item 16214
Safari splash keyhole bandeau top, $46.00 Item 16883
Secret Wash lightweight point-collar shirt in harbor stripe, $59.50 Item 14909
Floret metallic-leather espadrilles, $175.00 Item 15267
Globe-Trotter Centenary 33″ extra-deep suitcase with wheels, $1,750.00 Item 99431

From WWD ISSUE 04/20/2009
In a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on [April 17th], J. Crew Group reported Millard “Mickey” Drexler, chairman and ceo, earned total compensation of $1.9 million last year, down from $2.8 million in 2007.
Drexler’s $200,000 salary remained the same as the previous year. Although his stock and option awards rose 60.7 percent, to $1.7 million from $1 million in 2007, he and the other listed J. Crew executives received no bonuses in 2008, because the company failed to meet designated performance goals. Drexler collected a $1.5 million bonus in 2007 and $1.6 million in 2006.
Drexler received $14,900 in other compensation, a 40.9 percent decline over the previous year.
