Jewelry,
Michelle Obama

At the end of last year, Michelle Obama was spotted on the cover of Glamour magazine wearing a gorgeous statement necklace.
The fashion blogosphere became obsessed trying to figure out who designed the lovely piece. It turns out that the necklace was by Dana Lorenz for her line, FENTON-FALLON.
After the magazine hit the newsstands, it was revealed that FENTON-FALLON and J.Crew had collaborated to introduce a similar piece into the J.Crew jewelry collection.
The Carrington crystal bow necklace was born! The necklace comes in two colors, as shown below.
What are your thoughts on this beautiful statement necklace?

Michelle Obama

Today, First Lady, Michelle Obama met with Emine Erdogan, wife of the Prime Minister of Turkey. She was spotted wearing a cardigan from J.Crew!
The sweater is currently on backorder until the end of January. If you really want it, you can definitely call customer service and have them do a store search for you.
Sequin peekaboo cardigan, $128.00, Item 17829
Anything but basic, this supersoft cardigan is inset with a sequined placket of crinkled silk chiffon to give it the perfect hint of glamour (we love it popped under a blazer to add just a touch of shine). Pima cotton/wool in a 14-gauge knit. Fitted. Crewneck. Long sleeves. Self-covered buttons. Hits at hip. Import. Hand wash.
Update: Mrs. T over the Mrs. O blog left a comment letting me know that Michelle Obama also wears a J.Crew dress. She wears the Stretch flannel del pelato shift dress in heather graphite. What a lovely combination!
Stretch flannel del pelato shift dress, $178.00, Item 17711
We fell in love with the exquisite detail on the neckline of this dress—self and chiffon flowers, each one laser-cut for precision and individually applied by hand. Crafted in wool flannel with a hint of stretch, with box pleat detail at the front and inverted box pleats at the back for a beautiful tailored fit. Shift silhouette. Fitted bodice, pencil skirt. Open neckline. Sleeveless. Hidden back zip. Inset waistband. Fully lined. Falls above knee. Import. Dry clean. Catalog/jcrew.com only.

Yesterday, Michelle Obama was spotted in the Deco shirred skirt from J.Crew. The First Lady wore the skirt while speaking at the Department of Veteran Affairs.
I love spotting J.Crew in other media outlets. Have you spotted J.Crew somewhere recently?

If you missed out on the Crystal Constellation cardigan the first time around, now here’s your chance to own it. J.Crew has introduced the sweater in two different colors for the Fall: heather dusk and black.
The updated cardigan is $170 less than the original!

J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons: See What’s In Her Office
By Rachel Strugatz, Huffington Post
Meet Jenna Lyons, the creative director of J. Crew, the face behind “Jenna’s Picks,” and the resident visionary responsible for catapulting the retailer into a realm of success never seen by the likes of most brands. From her wall of inspirations, notes and cards from luminaries in the art and fashion worlds, countless magazines and books, photographs of her son coupled with handmade art from her husband, and samples for upcoming J. Crew designer collaborations, I got an inside look at Jenna’s workspace from both a personal and professional standpoint. It’s no wonder that the retailer, with 207 stores nationwide and a thriving e-commerce component, still continues to do swimmingly well amidst the current economic climate (it also doesn’t hurt that Michelle Obama is a fan). J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons is building an empire
By Booth Moore, LA Times
Michelle Obama has given the company a big bump in sales, but to many fans, it’s the creative director who embodies the brand’s elegantly casual essence.
It all started with the yellow outfit — the Pembridge dot pencil skirt, the Italian deco tank and the color-block cardigan. Michelle Obama wore them for an appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” in October, revealing that she had purchased the items online from J.Crew. Read more…

By Marla J. Wasserman, Promenade Magazine
Long before Michelle Obama catapulted J.Crew’s popularity into the stratosphere, Jenna Lyons intimately understood the brand’s allure. For the past two decades, Lyons has been part of J.Crew’s design team and now reigns as the brand’s Creative Director. With her all-American model look and athletic physique, Lyons epitomizes the classic, chic style synonymous with J.Crew and easily relates to the consumer’s desires.
