Election Day & New J.Crew Arrivals!

Posted November 4th, 2008 at 11:08 am by Leigh

Good morning. I hope everyone gets out and votes today. It’s a very important day for America.  I just came back from the polls and surprisingly, I did not have to wait in line. We’ll see Pennsylvania does today.

In other news, I came across some new arrivals today when I visited my local J.Crew store this weekend. The store already had new graphic tees out. I purchased the one below. I really like their sequin graphic tees.

I also purchased a really adorable new short-sleeved, button down sweater. The bow on this one did me in.

My personal shopper told me that the holiday items will be in stores on November 15th. How exciting!

What are your thoughts on the new arrivals?

Oooh, that bow may be too much for me!!

  2. Ann

Thank you very much for posting the new arrivals. I appreciate seeing the items first hand as I don’t have a store nearby anymore and I used to have 3 a year ago!

Now for a moment of truth…this is a fashion blog and I do have to say while I love JCrew beaded tees and have the penguin one from a year or so ago…I am not into sequins…is the reindeer missing a few??? He looks like it?? hmmm…

Also, I have to agree with eye4style (love your name by the way) the bow is too much for me. It’s a pass…and, generally speaking, I do like bows…(like the skirt picture you posted a while back…)

did your personal shopper say when the holiday items would be online vs. just in stores?

  4. Ann

    I heard Nov. 15

While I do love sequins, I sort of hate to buy items that can only be worn a certain season (i.e. reindeer, pumpkins, etc.) Of course, I always end up eating my words and buying seasonal item, but I usually try to wait for a sale. I do love the sweater with the bow!! Looks so feminine to me! What do you plan on pairing it with? Congrats on your purchases. :)

I agree with you, JCrewJunkie on the tees being seasonal, but they are so lightweight that I still wear them out of season. Last year, I bought the one with the polar bear on it and I wore it while I was in Puerto Rico this summer. It was light and kept me cool.

The sequin tees were also available with a bow or a crest/shield. I got the reindeer because I figured that one would be the first to sell out.

As for the bow sweater, it came in four colors. Grey, white, black and a yellow-ish color. I picked up the black and the white because I really like the style and fit of the sweaters. They fit a little loose in the body, but I would still recommend buying your regular size. I also liked they were short sleeved and could be worn as cardigans.

Because of the bow, you can really dress it up, but the overall look also allows it be dressed down. I wore the white version to work yesterday with a light camisole and my dark denim matchstick jeans. I threw on some heels and I was good to go.

I can’t wait for the new stuff. The new stuff won’t be out till next week? But your store already had some of the new stuff or all of it?

Hi, I am new to this blog and was just wondering if anyone can refer me to a good PS. I want to have one before the christmas sales starts to keep in the loop about whats going on. If you could give me their contact info (email preferably) I would appreciate it.

Just had a thought…why short sleeves on this sweater? This would be great for warmer climates but JCrew seems to be making more lighter weight sweaters and it is fall/winter…I have some from the wareshouse sales a few years back that are nice and heavy and still going strong… very well made…I am hoping that some of the new items are more winter weight sweaters:) Here’s to positive thinking:)

  11. Janna

Hi, I am a devoted lover of everything JCrew. I agree that the sweaters have been very lightweight lately, and as I live in a cold winter climate, I too am hoping for a little more warmth from the sweaters. I have a question for everyone: what do you think of the JCrew jewelry collection? I haven’t found a link on this site for discussions/critiques of it. Just wondering:)

  12. Jeff

I think the lighter sweaters’ supposed to reflect on the extremely warm fall we’re having . . . just a thought.

  13. Ann

    Jeff,
I believe that these sweaters were designed and made LONG before the weather was even a consideration. For example, spring colors and sweater pictures and designs are already out for JCrew online at various magazine sites. Nice try:)

  14. Ann

    Janna,
The reviews that I have read are very mixed for JCrew jewelry. If you like bold, big and heavy jewelry go for it. Quality is also an issue as I know people have beads and stones falling out often. I like the sterling silver pieces I have from a few years ago but I don’t care for their jewelry… I do much better shopping second hand stores for vintage pieces or relying on hubby for the real thing:)

  15. Lissie

I for one appreciate the fact that they are making some lighter weigh sweaters. I love in Florida, but do not want to dress in very summery clothing when it is November and still 85 outside.

Leigh, what is this composition of this sweater?

  16. Lissie

That should read “live” in Florida, not “love” in Florida!

  17. Leigh

Hi everyone. I just watnted to clarify that the deer is not missing any sequins. I just didn’t fix them to lay flat before I photographed the tee. I hope that helps everyone!

  18. Leigh

Lissie, I believe the sweater is wool and cashmere blend. I can double check for you when I get home from work.

  19. northerngirl

    Leigh,
I love the bow sweater! Could you list the style number please?

  20. northerngirl

    and price also please!

  21. Leigh

Northerngirl, the sweater is $98. The item number is 10176.

Lissie, the content of the sweater is 55% Wool, 30% Nylon, 15% Cashmere. It is dry clean only.
