J.Crew Featured in May 2009 Instyle Magazine

This month, J.Crew is featured in InStyle magazine for a shopping your wardrobe segment. InStyle shows us how versatile the Cate leather high-heel slingbacks are. If you already own them for the office, you can also wear them on the weekend. With the right clothes and accessories, the Cate slingbacks can be worn for both work and play.

I don’t own them, but I was tempted a few times to buy these shoes. They look very well made and pretty too in classic kind of way, but in the end I resisted because they were too ordinary. If you put these shoes on, you need to spice up the rest of your outfit, and I prefer it the other way, where the shoes help me out by adding something extra. I hope it makes sense.

I have these in the shell patent and have had tons of compliments, especially with the tea rose Jayne dress. Unfortunately, I find them to be very uncomfortable–the vamp cuts painfully across the knuckle of my big toe. Unlike many of the JC shoes I’ve purchased lately, these do NOT run large. If you are between sizes I would suggest the larger size.
