I have ventured many times onto eBay.com in search of a deal or a hard-to-find item from J.Crew. Just typing in a search for “j crew” spits back over 7,000 listings on eBay. That’s a lot! Last December, I purchased a couple of sweaters from the resort collection before my trip to Key West. All of the items were already sold out in the small sizes in my store and there, they were on eBay. I love it when I am able to get deals on J.Crew clothes!
Have you purchased J.Crew items on eBay before? What did you buy? Who was the seller? Did you get a great deal?

Hey Ladies!
Nice pic above
I’m a J.crew ebay reseller and I love what I do. It’s truly a hobby that’s turned into a side job. But I can’t complain! I love finding items that are hard to find, and I have so many repeat customers that keep coming back because of my selection…I like to shop, girls love to buy- so it’s works for both sides
See you soon!

PS- I hope it’s ok that I replied to this post as a J.Crew reseller. I did that on another site and got rather unfavorable responses…:( Unfortunately, resellers are looked down upon to some, which is understandable.

Hi Natedac, you are welcome to post comments on this blog. The more perspectives to J.Crew, the merrier! If you enjoy what you do on eBay, that is all that matters!

Thanks Leigh- that’s cool. Here’s also a link to my polyvore site, my ode to all things J.crew…I’m trying to do a page a day using very basic items people are buying. Sometimes I just STARE at the catalogue and can’t figure out how to rearrange the items:

I buy a ton of J. Crew from Ebay. Recently got two of the featherweight merino sweaters from last fall (prefer them to this year’s version). I also got two jackets that are too small for me and I’ve got them relisted there now - TOTAL bargains. If you are reading this and are a size 12 or 14, stop by! I’ve also got quite a bit of jewelry (J Crew and Lois Hill)

Molly, I didn’t know you were an eBay seller! I love finding sweet deals on there!

Thanks Leigh - I just listed J. Crew stuff for the fist time today. I’m strictly a J Crew fanatic trying to clear out my closet for Fall 2008. Unfortunately, my wallet is pretty cleared out now too LOL

just picked up some suede bucks yesterday for a decent price. Just my size though!

That’s great, Kevin! It’s definitely hit or miss on eBay. I hate seeing something I love/want, but it’s not my size.
August 30th, 2008 - 10:51 pm
Natedac got an unfavorable response because he/she is selling things for unreasonable prices! You are charging 50% more than the original price which is ridiculous and self serving. You also have items before they even come out, which means you probably work for J Crew and I am sure they would frown upon that!

Thanks Fedup! I guess it helps that you watch my items and are impressed by my selection. I work very hard to make sure people get a glimpse at the new stuff first. Spread the good word…

Wow, I don’t know how you stay in business… I would never pay those prices! Maybe if I had piles of gold in my house that I could roll around in for fun! I guess there are a lot of ebay shoppers who either a) have enough money to pay or b) don’t realize that the actual retail prices are lower…

2 years and still going strong…I’m entrepeneurial by nature, so I have it all figured out…

Hi Heather,
Yes, I choose to only carry only j.crew items. A lot of my buyers are international. Ther’e’s a market out there and I constantly discourage those w/access to the clothing to NOT BUY FROM ME. I am fair like that.
But, in Fedup/Maxime’s case, they’re upset, because they don’t agree with my business which is ok, because they don’t have to buy from me.

I am a J.Crew seller on eBay, too. The way I see it is that eBay is a business where you want to sell your item for more than you paid. I find sold out items and list them on eBay for more than I paid. If I didn’t do that, why would I bother listing it on eBay? If I pay less than retail, my buyers may pay less than retail. If I pay retail, there will be a mark up so it can be worth it to me to sell on eBay.
I was fortunate enough to find the items. I put them on eBay so others can have the item. They are paying for the item and the work I invested to find them.
Seems that is how business on eBay operates.

I completely agree on the international scale - if I didn’t get my J.Crew catalog in the mail monthly, I might be more inclined to pay a premium price!
August 30th, 2008 - 11:39 pm
IsellJcrew- Very well put! I guess I have to take in the many hours spent shopping and the dollars in gasoline, going back and forth to pick up stuff. But no one wants to take that into consideration…

Thanks Maxime- glad you understand.

Oh, I am guilty guilty guilty. Most of the J Crew I buy comes from eBay because I can’t bear to pay retail for pretty much anything. I know my pieces and I know how to search and sometimes it takes years but some of my all-time favorite items have been found on eBay. For instance, the 2 Greenwich Tweed jackets I have that I adore - they sold in-store for something like $298 apiece and I think I got each one new with tags for like $40 apiece. I was walking on air all day. But it’s harder and harder to find deals now that eBay sellers are hitting final sale and wiping out the online inventory and also passing off outlet items to unsuspecting buyers (HINT: the 3 diamonds on a label indicate it was made for the outlet, which may or may not bother you). As with everything, caveat emptor - and it pays to know your colors, know your fit, and know what something is worth to you so you can spot a fair price when you see one.

Also I would like to say BOO YOU to the Natedac haters - no one is being forced to buy anything. If people are either enraptured or foolish enough to pay too much for something, that’s their prerogative. You don’t just stumble across the items that natedac sells. You come looking for them. Caveat: have never bought anything from Natedac on eBay - I see lots of treasures during my searches but I just admire from afar.

Puglady, thank you so much for the kind words. It’s nice to know there people like you, who admire me for what I pick, and how I am able to keep up this hobby of mine. And you’re totally correct, because I have a selection of higher end items, people are usually searching for it! I would be more than happy to work with you if you see anything in the future!

OK for what it is worth, my friend is a personal shopper at J.Crew and told me she has been told she would get fired if she sold J.Crew items on EBay and they found out - I think there are just some savvy Ebayers who are able to post very new/high end items and charge a premium for them….
Oh and the only thing I ever bought was the Liberty shirt from last year in Roasted Pepper - I really wanted it and there was no sz 0/XS left on jcrew.com so I got it NWT on Ebay and I really like it :). As I rule I try to buy from jcrew.com or the store first, and Ebay as a last resort, just as a loyal customer, but if there was something I really wanted, like everyone else here, I’d look…
September 2nd, 2008 - 10:58 pm
Aasha, I agree with you. I look on eBay as a last resort, usually when something I have been waiting to go on sale is not sold out in my size. It always ends up on eBay and since I have dying for it, I convince myself that it is okay to buy.
September 2nd, 2008 - 11:02 pm
Aasha- you are TOTALLY correct. For the record, I do not work for jcrew, not affiliated w/jcrew, just another savvy shopper that has an eye for all the goodies people tend to like!

I just bought shoes. A deal, I think…..haven’t received them yet.

I’m desperately searching eBay for the resort collection dresses J. Crew came out with a couple of years ago. Remember? It was a small bound catalog with beautiful dresses you would wear to Hawaii or somewhere tropical. Most dresses were floor length but casual. Do you know what this colleciton was called?
