Photoshop to J.Crew’s Rescue…Again

I posted over the weekend in this entry, “Photoshop to J.Crew’s Rescue” about how J.Crew uses Photoshop to slim down some lounge pants to look more fitted.

Looks like they use photoshop to slim down their models, too.  See for yourself!

I really can’t tell the difference. What should I be looking at? :P

Now that I’m looking at it… Is it her thighs are a bit slimmer towards the bottom?

That is the difference! I think she looks great in the first picture. Wonder if J.Crew thinks that slimmer thighs will sell more bathing suits.

These girls are already unattainable perfection as they are, they do not need more slimming/airbrushing. While I would love to see J crew using normal-looking models, it’s these beauties that I secretly yearn to resemble. For instance, current BR ads hold no appeal to me whatsoever. The girls are not as nearly attractive and I don’t care what they wear.:) What is everybody’s opinion on that? I think, the dream sells.

Quite honestly I’ve noticed in the last year or so that the models in the J. Crew catalog while thin, do have a healthy, athletic appearance. It’s been a while since there has been an awfully, over-thin model. Even this spring catalog, the one with all the roses, had a model with a more fuller frame. I think the selling-point of the J.Crew model is her natural beauty. They aren’t overly made up. Their hair is usually in a natural, elegant style. I also think part of the appeal is their use of certain models over and over, like Anouk Lepere.
