The Astrid Jacket on Ebay

Berry-trim Astrid jacket, $248.00, Item 96309
I think the Berry-trim Astrid jacket is a great piece from the fall J.Crew collection. I love that it comes in a gray color as well as two fun colors for the fall. I have only seen the blue and gray color in person and am very interested in ordering the plum plum color just to see in it. Purple is a key color this fall.
I love that this jacket also comes in petite, but because of the shape of the jacket, I am not sure that it is necessary for me to order it in petite. I am waiting until the price goes down a little bit, or at least I am hoping that it will. I was just browsing eBay this morning and already found some great deals on the jacket!
What do you think of this jacket? Which color is your favorite? Have you purchased one? If so, which color did you choose? If not, are you considering purchasing one?

I just ordered this with the FALL 15% off promo and my educator’s discount in PLUM…I just have a feeling it is not going to last until a sale….it is already back orderd in several sizes in the blue and gray. I would rather have this one great piece than a bunch of little stuff.

I have the gray and I can’t wait to wear it when it’s colder out. I ordered it during my personal shopper session at 20% off in the petite. I needed the petite so it would fit in the shoulders. I <3 it! The jacket seems very Chanel-esque. I was also nervous that it would sell out before it went on sale since that had very few sizes left at my store.

I would have bought it to Allison…I think you are right it is going to sell fast:) Congrats. Lucky for me it is cool enough where I am that I can wear it once it gets to my doorstep! I didn’t want to wait b/c I can wear it now and will get a lot of use out of it before it goes on sale:)

I bought the blue astrid last week. I liked both the blue and charcoal but thought the blue went better with my coloring. I felt the gray was a little too subdued. I plan to wear it with jeans and a graphic tee shirt.

Looks like everyone here purchased a different color. How did you decide on the color? I am torn as I think all of the colors are great. The jacket is just a beautiful piece.

Well there was only one color in my store (heather charcoal) and I also took the advice of my mom and personal shopper. We were all nervous about the other colors…I believe Violet from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory came up. To each “her” own. I think I got the right color for me.

I was only able to try on the charcoal and it is a beautiful classic color and always a safe choice – there is more texture and shade to the fabric in person than in the photos. I liked it a lot. I also did love the blue though. I have to add, just to confuse matters, that my PS recommended the purple and she is always spot on in her taste and recommendations and I tend to regret it when I go against her advice – not that she EVER tries to persuade me. I think though that you need to be adventurous if you pick the purple though as it is sort of out there… I didn’t see it in purple though. The latter is likely only going to go with jeans or maybe a grey pant. I like Leigh haven’t decided which of blue or grey I would get. Sorry I am not much help. I do remember though that the “sought after” jacket of the season was the Lexington jacket with the piping in black and grey. It sold out completely and J.Crew insisted there would be NO MORE!!! Then in final sale in Dec/Jan they kept releasing lots of them. So maybe they will do the same for this jacket….?

I picked the heather gray too. Although I love bright colors (that’s why I shop JCrew) and live in the South where bright colors are acceptable year-round, I was concerned that the plum was too “of the moment” color and will look old next year. The blue is lovely, but again, too memorable when the jacket itself already is memorable on its own.
So heather grey it is… though I wish I could afford to get another one in a fun color. My only concern with this is will it look too “mumsy” on a 47 yr old suburban mom (albeit with a young-looking figure)?
Can you suggest ways to wear it & accessories to keep it from looking too predictable/aka too-Chanel? I plan to wear with white jeans, grey t & fierce grey booties, but any other ideas, ladies?

You could try straight leg courdoroy pant either in dark or light colors and you could add a t-shirt with a subltle metallic in ivory or heather gray. You really are limitless as far as color since the jacket is a neurtal color.

I bought this w/the 20% personal shopper in charcoal, then also in Plum. I LOVE the plum color better than the gray.and will return the gray. I think the gray COULD look more matronly than the plum colr, however that’s very personal plus depends on how one wears it… really you can’t go wrong with this beautiful jacket!!!

That’s great to hear, Buffy! What are you going to wear the plum color with? I think it looks fabulous with jeans, anything grey, and even a burnished olive. Tell me about how you plan on putting an outfit together around this jacket color. I always like to hear others’ creative ideas.

Agreed, Kara. The charcoal Astrid looks great with the heathered grey J Crew tee I bought with subtle metallic gold graphics. I also tried the watercolor Lydia blouse underneath the charcoal Astrid with my own dark grey jeans and it looked pretty good.

Hey Francesca. I ordered this jacket in all three color and will review them when I receive them. I will also post creative outfit ideas.
