Fancy Cover on New J.Crew Catalog

Thanks to Roxy, a great reader, who let me know that the new J.Crew catalog has fancy lettering on its cover. She was kind enough to take a picture and send it to me.

J.Crew is displayed in big and bold lettering. I love the silver lettering on the catalog. The image of the catalog cover on the website does not have J.Crew displayed like this.

Seeing this cover gets me so excited. I can’t wait to receive one in the mail. I might even go by a store today and pick one up!

    Just to let you know, the catalog provided in-store has a different cover. Only the in mail catalog has the upgraded cover. The in-store version is just the same paper-mache material with no silver fill ins. Oh, & yeah, the cover of the mail in catalog really is printed on a higher quality paper.

    Hmmmm, I just received my copy in the mail today & mine did not have the upgraded “fancy” cover….what’s up w/that? Well it just ends up going in the recycling bin anyway, but still, can’t help but feel a little snubbed.

    I received my catalog in the mail and it was the same cover as the one in the stores. Wonder what’s up with that. Oh well.

    I recvd mine in the mail & it has plain lettering. Also, did NOT receive Mickey’s 25% off card, boo hoo, but I am not a JC card holder.

    You do no have to be a cardholder to get the 25% off coupon.

    Yeah, I’m a cardholder, I did get the card, but did not get the fancy cover, so go figure…..it must’ve been reserved for those “ultra luxe” customers who got the free necklace gift a while back.

    Hey Anna! I am a cardholder, too. I also got the necklace from Mickey Drexler a while back but did not receive the fancy cover catalog. I am not sure how they decide.

    I’m pretty sure the cover is random. I did not receive the bracelet, maybe because I’m not a woman, but I did receive the “fancy” cover.

    The discount cards went to the top however many customers at J. Crew. And I’m sure the same goes for the catalog. We don’t have any of them in our store : (.

    Hmm weird. I did not get the necklace a few months back but I did get one of the recent 25% off cards. I am a card holder, not sure if that had anything to do with it. Though my sister who barely even shops at J.Crew also got the fancy cover.

    Fancy lettering on covers, discount cards… lets all be thankful there exists a fabulous company like J. Crew that always keeps us guessing! AND, lets all shop there as much as we can to help this company thrive.

    I am a card holder, I got the necklace and the 25% off card (which was ridiculous since I don’t live near a B&M) but still my cover was just the regular one. Didn’t even know (until reading this) that there was a fancy one. If everything in the catalog is the same I don’t personally care. :)

    No fancy cover either, but there are some new items in this catalog. Some new sweaters.

  17. Thanks for posting the pic of the cover, because it really shows how different the lettering is. We feel better knowing we aren’t the only one who didn’t receive the snappy lettering upgrade! (tee-hee.)

    Hi, I don’t get the necklaces or the fancy mailings. . . the funny thing is, I haven’t received any catalogs yet because I live so far from an urban center. I do spend copious amts. of money at jcrew, but have held against getting the credit card because I don’t like having multiple payments arriving. . . prob. doesn’t make sense though! lol. . . what was the necklace that was sent out? Was it one sold in stores?

    Hey Kathy. You can use the code online, FOJCHOLDEC9, until December 15th. It can not be combined with the current code. I hope that helps you!!

    Leigh, thanks for posting the code!! I have a 25% card but thought I would have to try using the red phone since my local store doesn’t have much – plus some things that are marked down online are still selling for a higher price in the store which annoys me – I asked re this as in the past they would match online prices and was told they are “not allowed..?!”….Thanks again :)

    Aasha-my store always matches online and vice versa. I think you are being ripped and I would ask for a mgr to match the price. I don’t think it’s any special priv that they are giving me–just have to ask. Try it and mention that all of your “friends” in other cities are getting the price match-good luck!

    Aasha, no problem. I am glad I could help. My store has difficulty price matching, too. Basically, I just don’t even ask anymore.

    Covert5, I should be more persistent. Because in the end, it only helps me. I just hate the rude looks I get some times. I don’t get why they don’t understand that as shoppers, we still want to get the same prices. They should make their pricing more consistent. It should not be different in stores and online.

    Lolo- I am an associate, I work at the downtown San Francisco Centre downtown : ). I’ll try to keep you guys filled in with any updates, but to tell you the truth I usually get more information here than I do from the store!

    Hey Allison! Thanks for keeping us posted. My personal shopper told me resort items are going to be in stores this week, and that my store would have everything out on the floor today.

    How far is the J.Crew store in San Fran from Union Square?

    A lot of our resort items have been out for about two weeks but they just put everything resort out the past two nights. There are some really fun items, but I won’t be in the store to see everything until Wednesday.

    It’s only about four blocks or so? It’s on Market Street in the Westfield. No problem!

    Leigh and Covert5 – thanks. Leigh it sounds like you and I are having the same problems with price matching. It seems to me that it wasn’t ever an issue in the past but now, even in my usual store in PA and you in yours, where we both have PS, they are no longer willing to do this. And I did persist in the Santa Fe store incl asking the asst manager, and just got a point blank no, as well as rudeness from one of the shop assistants. I agree with you Leigh, it is infuriating and they need to be consistent with prices across the board if they won’t consistently price match…Oh and Allison – I love your store – I go there everytime I am in San Fran – you get all the new stuff and as much or more than NYC really early. Tracey (mgr) and Erin are always really good to me :) Leigh – you should go for sure if you are anyway in that area. It is a just a walk down the hill from Union Square in the shopping ctr Allison mentions which has a great Nordstrom on the top few floors.

    Hi, Allison – good to know you work there. Love that store. Just ordered over the phone (I live about 1 1/2 hr away) a pair of shoes from your store (on Saturday, a pair of spectator peep toes in dusty rose, I’m anxiously waiting for them, they should’ve shipped out on Monday), present for my sister! With the discounts, I ended up paying around $90…..now I’m thinking I should’ve gotten a pair for myself. It’s going to be hard to part with them!

    It’s such a great store! We’re one of the best in the areas, it gets pretty crazy but I love that we have so much product.

    And I love those! I like them the most in the warm gold color. That is such a great deal! Our sales have been crazy lately, it’s great for shoppers. You could always order another pair : ).
