French serge opera coat, $800.00, Item 17509
I’ve had several readers email me about how much they love the French serge opera coat. It is definitely a one-of-a-kind statement piece which is now sold out. I especially love how it is styled in the catalog as shown below.
Are you surprised that the opera coat is sold out? Or are you coveting another piece from the outerwear collection?

Italian houndstooth Greta jacket, $375.00, Item 96180
A few weeks ago, I wrote about how I came across the Greta coat in my Glamour magazine in the post, “J.Crew Greta Coat in Orange Houndstooth.” I was so excited that I recognized a J.Crew piece before it was officially on the website.
Many of you wrote about how you thought it was great coat. I was even informed that it came in a little CrewCuts version which oh-so-adorable.
I have been thinking between this Greta jacket and the Felicia coat in bright rhubarb. Last year, I purchased a black, brown and ivory coat from J.Crew. So this year, I really want a fun coat. And I am not sure which of these to go with.
But now that the Greta coat in houndstooth is available to purchase online, are you considering it? Do you like the shape of the coat? Do you prefer the solid colors?

Lucido coat, $1,800.00, Item 96559
In soft, shiny Italian patent leather, this glamorous jacket is a singular statement piece. We’ve lined it with a dramatic print from our favorite couture mill, so it’s Italian through and through. Generous A-line fit. Deep V-neck. Elbow sleeves. Interior piping. Fully lined. Falls to low hip. Part of the J.Crew Collection. Import. Spot clean.
I spotted the Lucido coat on J.Crew’s website and wondered what this piece of garment actually was. At $1800.00, it looks like a rather expensive rain coat. However, the coat is made of patent leather so it should not be worn out in the rain at all. The shiny material looks just like PVC. If the coat came in black, it would look very gothic.
It’s part of the J.Crew Collection and will be available in some stores.
I am just wondering what J.Crew was thinking when they created this coat. Who is the customer that they are trying to reach?

Double-cloth Greta coat, $365.00, Item 96694
I was leafing through one of my many fashion magazines tonight and came across this beauty! The coat looked so familiar, but not at the same time. Upon closer examination, I realized it was the Greta coat in a great new print and color! The orange houndstooth is beautiful! This coat will probably be a best seller for J.Crew!

What are your thoughts on the new version of the Greta? Do you love it? Is it too bold in orange? Do you think it will be a hit among many J.Crew shoppers?
Update: Here is the orange version of the Greta coat from the J.Crew website.
