This is so frustrating because I don’t live near a b&m store.
October 2nd, 2008 - 1:10 pm
I also find this frustrating. My store is very small and does not get much in beyond the basics. And, it only carries up to size 12 and L. Seeing as how I need a 14 or XL, there is no way I can use this offer. Bummer!
I even talked to the PS about what she could do for me—how I could utilize her services. She admitted that given that the store does not carry my size, she could not do anything.

I wonder why JCrew is pushing their PS’s so much? I personally don’t like to shop this way, and I find it also, once again, annoying to those who don’t have a store nearby.

I had use their personal shopper when J Crew offered their PS Phone Service a while back. However, I did not have a good experience with my PS. She was nice enough and all but she didn’t take the time to get to know me and was suggesting things that I didn’t need or liked for that matter. 2 of the items I purchased which she suggested, ended up not being suitable and when I contacted her to see if she could help me exchange them for other items, she was in essence, unwilling to assist me. Long story short, I will never use her again. I may use another PS if J Crew offered another Phone offer - since there isn’t a J Crew in Canada. But for regular shopping, I won’t be using another PS. I didn’t find any benefit using the PS and it really wasn’t any different from chatting with a CSR per se. JMHO.

I wish I had the time to do this (I’m going on travel by Tuesday, and to somewhere with no J.Crew!)…and I wish my favorite sales associate/personal shopper was already back at the B&M I usually go to (he is fabulous; I saw him recently and tried to convince him to go back to work with J.Crew =P).

I apologize for this being off-topic…
Is it possible to hand-wash the Marcella blouse, or is it really dry clean only? I’ve had some luck hand-washing silk blouses before, but I’m afraid to ruin it.

I love my PS…She is so helpful and doesn’t push products on me.
Jennifer, have you tried Dryel? It’s an at home “dry cleaning” system. It saves so much money.
October 3rd, 2008 - 12:57 pm
I’d love to take advantage of this offer, but my nearest store is an hour away. I probably won’t have time in the next few weeks it make it there because my whole month of October seems booked with birthday parties and weddings. Plus, I kind of want to hold off on purchasing anything more until the holiday stuff comes.
I haven’t used Dryel on any of my silk blouses, but it did work well cleaning a suit of mine. It doesn’t smell that fabulous, but you can air the clothes out outside if it gets to you.

Either Dryel or Dry Cleaners Secret (with Woolite) work well with my “Dry Clean” items. You can include a fabric softener sheet or two in there to freshen up the smell as well.
I agree with Christine - I’m going to wait til the holiday stuff comes out. Too exciting!

Yes, I used Dryel on a suit and it worked. I would take my silk to the dry cleaners but you can always try it. I don’t think it would hurt it at all. Dryel is more to freshen fabric between a few wearings and remove a particular spot/stain. If you really need it cleaned take it to a dry cleaners.

Hi everyone,
I am a store director for JCrew and the personal shopper service is a really great thing that we have been able to introduce in our stores. The whole purpose of this service is to make things convienant for you- we work around your time and your schedule. In my store, we even do personal shopping appointments over the phone and email because people’s schedules are getting busier and many of us don’t have time to shop. We CAN get you what you are looking for- whether it is the size 14 or XL or even ship to Canada. If anyone wanted to contact a PS in my store, they would bend over backwards to help you with whatever you needed. That’s what we are here for- to help you.

Jenn,
What store are you in? How do I contact you?

My PS Christin A. at the La Cantera store (new store in San Antonio TX) is incredible. I live in Atlanta and order everything through her. After everything I’ve experienced with the website, she is my go-to and far surpasses expectations. Highly recommend her!
