Great Alternatives to the J.Crew Tiered Lace Cami

The Tiered Lace Cami from J.Crew is a piece from the Fall 2009 Collection. (You can view it in the Fall 2009 Lookbook.)

The cami retails for a whopping $795 and is nearly sold out online. As of this writing, only sizes 6 & 8 are still available. I am guessing the item will be available at the J.Crew Collection store on Madison Avenue.

But for the price, it’s certainly an investment piece and a pass for me. Below are some great alternatives for much less!

What are your thoughts on the cami? Are you surprised that it is almost SOLD OUT?

Definitely surprised that it’s almost sold out already. I was super unimpressed by some of the items in the fall lookbook, this one included (at least at that price). I like the sweetheart-neckline alternative, though.

$795??? For a cami? It’s cute, but not that cute.

Wow, I can’t believe they have sold ANY! What a crazy price! I do love the suggested alternatives though – way cute and NOT $$$$$!

I love the second option! So cute. Thanks for sharing other, less expensive options!

A cami for $800? It’s nice but obviously not *that* unique, given the many alternatives. For that amount, I believe one is better off investing in a well-made coat or an item made by a designer. I’m surprised they are almost sold out. I can only assume they did not produce many.

My jaw hit the floor when I saw that pricetag..I bought a camisole like this in Macy’s for 1/20th of the price a few years ago. I’m not sure how I feel about Jcrew “couture”. If I wanted to pay that kind of money I’d probably go over to Barney’s and get something really quality.

That’s way overboard for a cami-getting a little too pricey since Obama is wearing their clothes-I certainly don’t hope their designing things around what Obama would wear and can afford?

But she is wearing Talbots too-which has begun catering to the older crowd!?

I like the boyfriend jacket and jeans with the femine cami-It’s nice that they’re making the “preppy” look femine!

What are the biggest fall colors-I hear purple is going to be in, but I like the rust colors and the blush!?

Any alternatives to the boyfriend jacket? I’m only 5′-so I may have a problem with the fit!!!!!

I really don’t like investing too much in summer clothes as the season is so short-it’s good to buy things one can wear all year around-like the camis, etc.

    Thanks!
