This Fall collection feels surprisingly springy to me. I love the pastels and light neutrals.

I really don’t like the styling in the fall preview, slim corduroys not withstanding. J. really needs to reign it in. Where is the preppy minimalism that made J. what it is. I wouldn’t be able to pull out alot of this stuff 10 years from now. I have a favorite shirt dress from J. that is 15 years old. Still amazing. Roll the sleeves, belt it…right on trend…but I still like to wear it with a tied sweater and flip flops. Jeez there is more messy crap than youthful steamlined classics with a twist.

I think Jenna Lyons is getting a little heavy handed with the design. The ruffles and rosettes on everything are a bit much, and a lot of the looks are a bit over the top for my taste. Seriously, purple anklets with heels?
I still love some of the classic pieces though…drooling over the eden jacket and schoolboy blazer.

Just purchased one of the new whimsical logo embellished tees in the store today, very cute! I usually wait for a sale but last year I missed out on the “candy tees”, every time I tried to purchase one online they sold out. My local store seemed a bit empty even with the new arrivals on Monday: I was a little perplexed…is that all there is? They’ve discontinued the Crew Cuts line for this store so that leaves more room for other merchandise but still has me wondering the fate of the store. I was very surprised at the change, this is a high volume retail mall and I know J. Crew does quite well. Has anyone else noticed similar changes in their locale? Very curious!

I’ve been searching for someone else who is not loving the August/Fall styling at J.Crew and finally I’ve found you all! I started to think maybe I’m just getting older that the look Jenna
Lyons is now promoting doesn’t do it for me. Way too much mix of colors and detail… it’s really over the top in my opinion. The August catalog really is something new but I can’t say I like it much.

I received a copy of the newest catalog yesterday-and until then I really didn’t see what all the fuss was about. But, I didn’t know wearing leopard print flats, and bright pink socks would be fashionable this fall. I’m not loving all the crazy patterns and textures of clothing either. I miss the old J Crew where you could buy a dress, keep it for 10 years and it still is fabulous to wear(Totally agree with Michele!) But, I did enjoy the set designs in the background. I paid more attention to that, then the clothes.
