The Coats From J.Crew…So Far

Posted by Siv Lam on Jul 28, 2009 in Fall |

Every year, J.Crew introduces great coats to their collection, along with updating older styles.

With the most recent release, J.Crew introduced the wool ruffle-front and double cloth camino coats. I love how feminine and versatile both styles are.

What are your thoughts?

I don’t like ruffles on anything, so I won’t be getting the Wool Ruffle-Front coat. I don’t like the buttons on the Double-Cloth Camino Coat. But I’m sure J. Crew have some prettier coats because they have for the past 6 years. Before that, they only had basic colors like black, grey, and brown. I like the colorful coats they sell now. I’m might even step out of the box and get a colorful wool coat since I always wear black or camel coats.

The Double-Cloth Camino Coat looks very similar to a style that Banana Republic carried last season. Two color choices were available; navy or white…cannot remember the price. As to the ruffles; on some items they are an appropriate embellishment. I think it is part of the J. Crew signature to have some sort of added interest to their clothing. However too many ruffles, flowers and frufru at one time is not a typical or necessarily professional look for the everyday woman. My take on the J. Crew style is to develop my own look from their example. Be an individual; but make it age appropriate.

I adore these new coats. They are just wonderful. Makes me so excited to see what else J. Crew has in store for the coats and jackets, fall/winter linge. Love the camel coat. They got the color right on this one. It’s true camel. I hate when they come out with camel coats that are either too dark or too light. Love the ruffles, too. Will definitely be putting it on my wish list.

Ugh, this blog like one big advertisement or something! I mean I love Torrid and everything but I ain’t going to dedicate my whole journal to it or nothing. Don’t y’all got anything else to do?

Love both coats but I’m thinking the ruffled camel blonde is my favorite!! Ruffles are timeless and I will never get enough of them!

Not a huge fan of either of these coats… I liked the ones from last season better! I hope they’ll have a better array to pick from come winter!

i like the classic, clean lines of both these pieces as they both appear to drape nicely on the body…neither looks bulky, which is good for a coat….i especially like the looks of the double cloth camino, both the color and shorter length….maureenlynne
