The Lexi Collection from J.Crew

Posted by Siv Lam on Jul 29, 2009 in Fall, New Arrivals |

Last Fall, J.Crew introduced shoppers to the idea of buying J.Crew jewelry and handbags. They even sent out an Accessories catalog and opened an Accessories store in New York City. See the post, “J.Crew Accessories Shop Opens in NYC.”

This year, J.Crew continues to wow shoppers with some great handbags. The Lexi Collection features two clutches, a tote and a satchel. The price points are fairly high for J.Crew. The collection retails from $225 to $425. I am still on the fence about paying that much for a handbag from J.Crew

Have you seen any of these handbags in person?

I LOVE the new “Lexi” collection. I decided I wanted the tote for my birthday- so I’m going to treat myself to it! A friend has the “Metallic Lexi Clutch” and swears that it was worth the money- and carries it with everything. :)

I totally agree with you about being on the fence about paying that much for JCrew bags… I feel like if I wanted to spend $300+, I’d buy a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag or something! Each collection they have is nice though… I’d wait to see if you can get on sale or w/ a gift card?

Also, I feel the same about their shoes… I have bought 2 pairs that I have stalked online to go on sale below $200-300. Both I adore, but I really think they are overpriced as well.

Wow, the convertible one reminds me of the Foley & Corinna one I was e-stalking about a year ago: seen here in gold. I ended up getting a cheaper Coach version in gold – you can see that they style copied the F&C version, as noted on thebagforum.com. I really like the grey version of the Lexi, but honestly, the design is a blatant copy of what others have done.

    Those fold-over bags are TDF!

I love J. Crew’s clothing and shoes, but I’m not too crazy about their bags. They aren’t made that good, and they’re overpriced. Dooney and Bourke bags are my favorite because the quality is good and the bags look good.

I have the lexi tote and it is very good for a 325$ bag- as good as the Coach bags in a (slightly) higher price point. The leather is top quality and the construction is very good. In comparison to the bags J Crew was having made before, this is a huge step up and I suspect they have found a new maker.

i very much am a fan of the lexi collection. its very unique. i have the metallic turqoise one myself- yes it was a bit pricey but i dont mind spending a little bit if i know i will get a lot of use out of it and i know not everyone will be wearing. it is currently my everyday purse. it spices up the boring scrubs i wear to work! and i can totally understand that if you are gonna spend a pretty penny on a purse it should be one something like a Dooney or Marc Jacobs. however, i feel jcrew always come up with designs that no one else does or has. again, very unique. i have gotten all kinds of compliments on my lexi turqoise clutch. viva jcrew!
