Today is the last day of 2008! This year has been a great year for me and I hope that 2009 is even better. Once again, I want to thank everyone for your continued support and readership.

I hope that everyone has a safe and happy New Year’s Eve. No matter what your plans are, I hope that you’ll be dressed in your J.Crew finest.

My family and I are going bowling so I want to look dressy, but not too dressy. I will be wearing the Merino sequin chiffon shell and Matchstick jean in ultra-dark wash.

What are your plans tonight and what will you be wearing?

I ordered so much stuff I haven’t decided what I’ll wear New Years Eve or Day. I have more orders coming next week. I think I’ll revisit that gorgeous Merino Wave Print cardigan (gold,yellow,white combo), shimmer button up w/Matchstick jeans and the Honeydew Matilda Dress for church function early New Years Eve.

I have an event this evening and will be wearing the JCrew Strapless Black dress with feather detailing and Jimmy Choo strappy black sandals with caribou and diamante detailing.

I will probably wear the metallic houndstooth jacket with the white victorian ruffle blouse, the black fireball necklace and black pants. (It is 5 degrees in Wis so pants and boots are a must.)

A related, yet unrelated comment. I was at the Crew yesterday and noticed the sequined shell hanging up on a hook; asked if it was on hold for someone and it wasn’t … it was $99.99 and 30% off of that. Too bad it was one size too big for me, and I figured it couldn’t be tailored because of the sequins. Boo. :-/

On the plus side, I received the scattered boule necklace (gold) and also the papaya-colored bauble necklace in the mail and I adore both. They came with my warm marigold-colored brushstroke silk shell (unlined) and I am DYING for spring to come!!

Yesterday in store I found the fireball bracelet in sage green $54.99 – 30% off). I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it. I’m more of a necklace person myself. The other purchase I’m dubious aboutis the button-wrist cardigan in the sour lemon color. Sour lemon is a hard color to wear in the winter when I’m so pale. But I have a pretty necklace that matches the stones set into the buttons and I thought they’d look cute together.

Question: Nothing I bought online or in the stores the last few days was marked FINAL SALE on the receipt or packing slip. Does that mean I can return it? Or should I just bring the stuff in before it gets marked down any further and say it was a gift, and receive a credit in return? TIA for your help.

Oh, and re: the topic at hand – I don’t have any plans to leave the house this evening. Ah well. I can just stay home and try on all my sale finds in my closet. Happy New Year y’all!

Jean, I think your metallic houndstooth jacket will be perfect for tonight. The ruffle blouse will look great with the fireball necklace. Your outfit is coordinated quite nicely for the weather you have there in Wisconsin.

Here in Georgia, where I will spending my New Year’s Eve, it is quite warm. I think my sequin shell will look great. Happy 2009 to you, too!

Hi Puglady, I am sorry to hear that the J.Crew store did not have the shell in your size. It really would be perfect to wear tonight or just a nice addition to your wardrobe. I love the new jewelry pieces you received. They will be perfect for spring.

Also, about the final sale items, I found that if they are not marked on the receipt, you can return them. Nothing comes up on the online receipts or store receipts. I would try to return them. If that does not work, show them how nothing is stated on the receipts and ask for store credit. They should be able to do this for you. If not, please ask to speak to a store manager. Because the paperwork is not showing final sale, you are technically entitled to the returns.

Puglady, your New Year’s Eve sounds amazing! Last year, my boyfriend and I fell asleep at 9:30 pm. We didn’t do anything special and I loved that we could have a low key evening together. This year, we are with his family in Georgia. His sister planned a fun bowling night so we are indulging in that. It should be fun.

Happy New Year Leigh. I ended up wearing the sweater, Whisper lame slim shirt in creme and jeans along with some tan & gold T strap leather heels.
I didn’t last til midnight. LOL
I ordered alot of staples ie; tall city fit Madisons as well as chinos (8), merino Melanie pullovers (4) plus button sweaters (2), merino turtleneck in solid colors bright and dark (6), twisted crystal necklace, Rope Link Necklace, Clara chiffon cardigans, Jillian light pewter peeptoe flats, Shipley coat in dark poppy, Bow necklace cardigan, Linda hoodie, Dream turtleneck in spearmint, Metallic passport cover, satin jewelry traveler and foil skinny belt.
Not to mention what I picked up in the store. Which by the way a couple receipts doesn’t have that red stamp saying final sale. I’m really happy with my purchases so I doubt if I’d return a thing.
By the way thanks for the update on the new catalog.

Puglady, that is exactly how it goes with me, too. My boyfriend knows that when I return something at J.Crew, I am really going to buy something else. Something else always catches my eye.
