Double-faced wool Lexington jacket, $228.00, Item 85798

As the cooler weather nears (or it may already be here depending on where you are), I look forward to breaking out some of my favorite pieces from J.Crew’s Fall 2007 collection.

One of those items is the double-faced wool Lexington jacket.  This jacket was featured in a black and white version as well as a grey and white version.  J.Crew also introduced the jacket later in the season in a variety of solid colors.  Last year, I got so many compliments whenever I wore this jacket.  I just felt so put together every time that I had it on.

I wore the Lexington jacket to work, to class, and out to meet friends for drinks.  The contrast colors and enamel buttons make this jacket so classic and elegant.  The jacket is very lightweight yet thick enough to be worn alone during the cool months.  It is definitely sturdier than some of the jackets that are being offered this fall.  I haven’t found one in J.Crew’s Fall 2008 collection that even comes close to this jacket.

A jacket very similar to the Lexington jacket was even featured in this month’s Glamour magazine. It’s pieces like this from J.Crew that make me love the brand and look forward to great clothes that make the cool fall months fun.

Do you own the Lexington jacket?  If so, which color do you have?  Do you love it as much as I do?

And if you don’t own the jacket and are considering purchasing one, here are the ones I found on eBay this morning.  Good luck! These prices are quite a steal.

Ok you can laugh - but I have it in Azalea and in both the Black and Grey with piping - I never bought it at full price when it first came out - passing up it despite my PS’s recommendation. Then, after realizing how great it was, became obsessed with getting it - I checked the Final Sale site daily last December, and finally one day they had a grey in a zero, then a day later a black. I bought both thinking I’d unload one on Ebay (where there was quite the cottage industry going on for these jackets) and I have yet to do so. Like Leigh I get SO many compliments when I wear it, and I don’t think any jacket this year comes close to this one….

I like this jacket but did not fall in love with it or purchase it. The one I Loved and bought is the Bella in plum velvet and the ruffled Chesire??or something like that name???in the Nov. 2007 catalog…I got it in tomato, salt and pepper, and the camel. I love the ruffle detail.

I’m one of those like Aasha who never really caught on when they came out with this. I bought mine - the white with the yellow piping - only this year via ebay! But once I got it, I so regret not being able to get when all the colors were available.

That being said, I also got the Bella in Oatmeal (I think that’s the color) this year - again via ebay. So many exceptional jackets last year - none this year really measure up, sadly.

Yes, Bella and Lexington were so great….I have Bella in plum color velvet too but wish I bought a wool one. So much nicer than the Ecole this year (I mean the detailing and finishing is so superior, even apart from the styling). I wish they would do a redo of these two styles in some updated colors/fabrics…..sounds like lots of us would buy :)

I bought the Lexington in black with white piping. I do get alot of compliments on it as well as the Wool Oxford jacket in bright flame Both of these were great jackets from last fall. I’ve have not seen anything this season that compares to the jackets from last year.

i have the lexington in black with white and adore it - it goes well with tons of things and i always get compliments. though some people (50+) remind me that i belong in a particular tv show when i wear it :)

I have the Lexington in black with the white piping - I didn’t wear it a lot last year (I bought it late in the season on sale - lucked out on one in my size on sale one day), but I think I will get a lot of wear this year.

I have the Lexington in black and white and I love it! There is nothing so far that even compares to the Lexington. I feel like the collection is just blahhhhh. Don’t get me wrong It could find a lot of items I would wear, but nothing I couldn’t live without. I think J. Crew needs to cut back on making so much jewelry and travel bags and focus on the clothes. I mean the clothes are what got us hooked. While I am venting what is up with the sale merchandise prices some of the shoes are the same price they were 6 months ago.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for some great, new designs!
