I have been on the web for only a few months and have many readers, new and returning ones, everyday. My boyfriend coerced me into finding a topic that I love and write about it. I just so happened to choose J.Crew. I didn’t care if no one even read this blog; I knew that it would be for me. But I love that I have readers from all around the US, even all around the world.

This all so very exciting for me. As a recent college graduate who is very interested in social media, this blog has taught me that I can have a voice.

With that said, I understand that there are many blogs about the same topics on the internet. And when it comes to J.Crew, there are many blogs out there. I know that mine is not the only one.

Just to set the record straight, I do not comment on J.Crew Aficionada and yes, I know that it exists. I did purchase the domain www.jcrewaficionada.com with the initial idea that I could work with the blogger of the other website. This only cost $7 and an independently hosted domain allows for more freedom as you may noticed I have snow on my current site.

And when comments that I do not write are brought to my attention from my readers, it saddens me that people think I would stoop down to this level. I hardly have time to sleep, let alone lurk around causing chaos in other online communities.

Please feel free to stop by, leave a message or email me. But please do not defame or slander me. Comments that do not contribute to the topic will be deleted. I work a full-time job and keep up with this blog as a hobby I really enjoy.

I love J.Crew and will continue to update this blog. Please visit if you enjoy it, but please do not read if you don’t.

It’s really as easy as that. With the troubles in today’s world, it’s really not necessary to create so much hostility on the internet.

Today, J.Crew announced financial results for the three months (third quarter) and nine months (first nine months) that ended on November 1, 2008.

Third Quarter highlights:

• Revenues increased 9% to $363.1 million. Store sales (Retail and Factory) increased 7% to $250.9 million, with comparable store sales decreasing 3%. Comparable store sales increased 5% in the third quarter of fiscal 2007. Direct sales (Internet and Phone) rose by 13% to $101.8 million. Direct sales increased 36% in the third quarter of fiscal 2007.
• Gross margin decreased to 41.6% of revenues from 45.6% of revenues in the third quarter of fiscal 2007.
• Operating income decreased 32% to $32.5 million, or 9.0% of revenues, compared to $47.7 million, or 14.3% of revenues, in the third quarter of fiscal 2007. Operating income in the third quarter of fiscal 2008 includes approximately $6 million of costs related to our Direct channel systems upgrades.
• Net income was $19.0 million, or $0.30 per diluted share, compared to net income of $26.8 million, or $0.42 per diluted share, in the third quarter of fiscal 2007.

Crew’s Chairman and CEO stated: “Despite these difficult economic times our priorities remain the same - providing innovative product, style and design, servicing our customers and making disciplined investments. At the same time, we recognize that a sea-change has occurred with the consumer. In the near term we are not immune to the significant challenges we are all facing in retail in these unprecedented times. However, our powerful brands, unique product offerings, compelling value proposition and multi-channel operating platform position us well for the long-term.”

Given the state of the economy, I am not surprised about the results of J.Crew’s fiscal third quarter. In the marketplace, there are not very many retailers that are doing well.  Please be cautious of the gift card that you buy this season. I have been reading very many horror stories of shoppers not being able to redeem them.

J. Crew Group, Inc. (NYSE: JCG) announced that the conference call to review its third quarter fiscal 2008 financial results will be broadcast live over the Internet on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

The broadcast will be available by clicking on the ‘Investor Relations‘ section of the Company’s website at www.jcrew.com.

I am very interested to see what J.Crew has to report for their third quarter.
