Of-The-Month Clubs at J.Crew

J.Crew Of the Month Clubs

J.Crew is offering twelve months of luxury for anyone on your gift list this holiday season. From jewelry to shoes to ties, J.Crew’s designers will pick out an item each month and have it shipped to your special someone. Please read below for more details on each of the of-the-Month Clubs.

Each club has a different cost but contains the same perks. You will receive an item each month for a 12 month period.

The Jewelry of the month club costs $850.00 and you will receive a different piece of jewelry for a 12 month period. Each piece is hand picked by our designers. This is a great gift for anyone or even for yourself. The jewelry will consist of a variety of bracelets and necklaces.

The Cashmere of the month club is priced at $1,875.00. You will receive a piece of cashmere each month for 12 months. Each item is made with 100% cashmere and all of the colors are exclusive to J.Crew. Our designers hand picked each cashmere piece for each month.

Our amazing Shoe of the month is priced at $1,800.00 and is, so far, our most popular of the month club. Again, this consists of a pair of shoes each month for a 12 month period. You may choose if you would like heels, flats or a mixture. Our designers also pick out the shoes each month.

The Tie of the month is priced at $550.00 and again, consists of a tie that is hand picked by our designers each month for 12 months.

Please note that the items that are received are not eligible for credit back to the credit card. We will exchange items (cashmere and shoe of the month only) for sizes only. We will not exchange for a different item or style of item due to these items being hand selected from the designers.

If you would like to purchase an “of the month club” we will charge your credit card the full amount and place that on a gift card. Each month we will take the money for the items off of the gift card.

As you can see, the cost of each club varies. I broke down the price of each club per month.

  • Jewelry:                    $70.83
  • Cashmere:              $156.25
  • Shoe:                      $150.00
  • Tie:                           $45.83

What are your thoughts on these monthly gifts? Are you considering these options for anyone on your gift list this holiday season?

    Hrm . . . do I really need 12 more ties? Seriously . . .

  2. ann says:

Hmmm…I don’t think I like the conditions/rules of the clubs…I would prefer if JCrew let you pick out your own sweater style and/or color each month from say a selection…

  3. Sally says:

I can’t think of a better way to WASTE money! And since shopping is one of my favorite pasttimes, why would I want someone else doing it for me? Also, I’d be worried that JCrew would use it as a way to get rid of some of their bad design choices. For example, you could end up with that phallic-looking bracelet that so many people don’t like, or something even scarier…

  4. Rae says:

Thanks for the information, Leigh! The monthly breakdown is quite helpful. But like Sally, I’d be afraid that the piece picked out for me would not be to my taste. Yeah, like that “phallic-looking bracelet”. LOL!

  5. Stacie says:

Because I love shopping I wouldn’t want this for myself.
If it were in my gift-giving price range though I might consider it. I know people who just don’t buy stuff for themselves (my mom: too busy buying for everyone else) It would be fun to be able to give her the cashmere one but as I said; $1875 is just a tad bit out of my price range, lol.

  6. Em says:

This doesn’t even save money! You could buy a piece of jewelry or a pair of shoes each month from J Crew for the same amount and get something you actually want. Who would sign up for this!?

  7. Karen says:

Oh, I don’t know if I will like that. As my husband’s said to me many, many times, I’m extremely difficult to shop for. He’s compared me to Jennifer Aniston’s character on Friends. I would essentially return almost everything anyone gives me. I’m extremely picky. NOt only that, I almost always return stuff I buy for myself as well. So to have a stranger (albeit a designer) pick something out for me monthly, chances are, I’m going to hate it and since I’m not going to be able to return it for something I want, I’m just going to be downright miserable! I can truly say that this would be a horrible christmas gift for me. Honey, if you’re reading this, Please, don’t buy this for me! LOL!!!

  8. Sally says:

Karen, I am extremely difficult to shop for, too! I have even forbidden my husband from buying me ANY clothes (or jewelry). I call myself a “returnaholic”. It’s actually kind of fun, as it gives me an excuse to go back to the stores I love (as if I need one). ;)

  9. Karen says:

Sally, I love that, a Returnaholic!!! If you don’t mind, I think I’ll start using that. :)

  10. Leigh says:

I am definitely way too picky to allow my boyfriend to purchase any of these of-the-Month clubs. He says that I am the worst person to shop for when it comes to the holidays and my birthday. Since he is web developer, I usually end up with techie gifts that I end up loving.

  11. RV says:

Could be a good way to slow me down from the various of-the-WEEK CLUBS that I have unknowingly created for myself…

  12. Anon says:

But again, these types of clubs are targeted for JCrew’s so-called “core” customers, not for sales seeker. JCrew’s core customers are those who would be more than happy to pay for the full-price, and hardly returns anything because either they share the same taste as JCrew’s designers’ picks, or because they cannot bother to return even if they don’t like something.

  13. Ann says:

Oh my gosh, I would love to join the Cashmere of the month club, it’s an awesome idea! I totally could wear some chic new cashmere coat to go with my gorgeous diamond necklace my hubby bought me from http://www.idonowidont.com for our 10 year anniversary.

The shoe-of-the-month club sounds tempting too!!

  14. Sally says:

I doubt these so-called “core” customers are as plentiful as JCrew would have us believe. I’m sure there are a few people like that out there (and bless their hearts!), but I think the majority of JCrew’s customer base is made up of cheapo sale-loving shopaholic nuts like myself. ;)

  15. LCP says:

Makes me wonder if the items will be exclusive to the club or generally available merchandise. I agree with those above that share this takes away the joy of the hunt! Fun idea, just not for me.

  16. Leigh says:

That is a very good point, LCP. I was actually wondering the same thing. If the items will be available to purchase, that means they will eventually go on sale.

  17. Anna says:

Hi, Leigh….wondering if you have any insight on what tomorrow may bring as far as coupons/sales/discounts. The 30% expires today….I was debating whether or not I should buy a few non-must have items or wait to see where the sales go…..Thanks in advance!

  18. Leigh says:

Hi Anna. My sources tell me that the Extra 30 might be going on for one more day. I will confirm whether or not it’s true tomorrow. Also, I was at my local store tonight and all the sale items were an extra 30% off. All the full price coats were 40% off.

  19. Anna says:

    Love your sources! Thanks again.

    P.S. – that’s a great promo on the coats.

  20. Leigh says:

Hi Anna! The code extra30 is still valid today. Happy Shopping!

  21. Pook says:

I would love a new pair of JCrew shoes each month, but I would definitely have to select them myself. I cannot wear a lot of their colours, but usually there is one colour in most styles that would work for me. I wonder if you can indicate a colour preference, such as pink/purple/blue and no yellow/green/orange.

  22. suitablegirl says:

I’d love the shoe thing (and would even trust their designers…guess I’m a “core” J.Crew shopper) if I knew a price range these shoes would be selected from. A lot of their heels are (when regularly priced) more than $150, so maybe you actually would be getting a bargain?
