I read an interesting article over at David’s Hauslab’s Jossip this morning where he talks about marketing towared male shoppers. He talks about how J.Crew chose alcohol as a way to draw in their male clientele. He writes:
We can’t tell whether J. Crew plans on serving customers a higball while shopping — they most likely do not have a liquor license — but maybe a pour of Johnnie Walker Black is your free gift with purchase.
This got me thinking about how retailers makert their clothing toward men. Should they use booze, sex, or sports? Those three seem to be the only options I can think of.
What do you think? What can retailers do to entice men into shopping at their stores?
