Necessary Indulgences at J.Crew?

J.Crew sent an email out yesterday announcing the arrival of its Accessories Collection. There is also a catalog to view online.  While there is not too much that is new about the existence of an accessories collection, as J.Crew did already have one, I did notice that they are creating more high end items.

I, for one, am content with purchasing the occasional pair of gloves or a great clutch here and there. I am not sure who will be buying these expensive pieces.  As many of you agreed in the post about the Jamie bag, if we buy these J.Crew bags, why not shell out just a bit more for a Coach or Burberry bag?

I do like the colors of current crop of bags from J.Crew; although, if I think hard enough, it does kinda look like the color of flesh and gives me bad “Silence of the Lambs” flashbacks. Ew.

Sorry…ok, back to positivity…again, I like the neutral color of the bags and make them quite feminine when paired with a lot of the pieces J.Crew is coming out with now.

The Cameron satchel is very similar to the the Marc by Marc Jacobs Posh Turnlock satchel that he came out with this spring. The Uptown tote usually goes on sale after a couple of weeks; so why pay that much for it upfront? Also, it is unlined and is open, which brings down the value for me quite a bit.

I agree that I would gladly shell out just a little bit more and splurge on a MBMJ, Burberry, Kooba, Linea Pelle or any other reputable bag designer.

Rae, I totally had a moment like that in Target! I saw a fleshy-bag, and as I was looking at it, I noticed it matched my skintone. Soo scary.

Of these three, I think the Sean bag is the cutest, but it is kind of small for everyday. Also, it would look weird as my winter bag because my main winter coat is black. I love the pink color, but I hate pink and black together.

Wow, I’m so glad I’m not the only one who had a weird aversion to pink and black, Christine. My mom gave me a gorgeous necklace that was (very light) pink quartz stones with black glass beads (I think), and I’ve only worn it once. (I can’t figure out how to wear it!)

I guess the colors gives me a totally gnarly 80s flashback. LOL!

  4. I’m with Christine I think the Sean Bag is totally over the edge. It’s totally cute. Now if only we weren’t in a recession…
