J.Crew sent out an email over the weekend introducing the Lemlem Collection. Lemlem is a line of children’s clothing founded by designer and supermodel, Liya Kebede. She is also the face of the entire April J.Crew catalog.
The email reads:
We fell in love with International Goodwill Ambassador (and supermodel) Liya Kebede, who is also founder of Lemlem – an irresistible children’s line of handmade clothing.
We are thrilled to partner with Liya in offering select Lemlem pieces at CrewCuts.
Liya Kebede started Lemlem (which means “to bloom” in Amharic, a language spoken in North Central Ethiopia) in 2007 to inspire economic independence in her native country and to preserve the art of weaving.

To learn more about the Lemlem Collection, you can visit the CrewCuts website. There’s also a great video interview with Liya Kebede and J.Crew Creative Director, Jenna Lyons. It’s great to hear them chatting about the collection.
I think the pieces from the Lemlem Collection are really dainty and cute. I wonder if my local CrewCuts store is carrying the items as I would really love to see them in person.
What are your thoughts on this partnership between Liya Kebede and J.Crew?
