Bouclé tweed short scarf coat, $350.00, Item 10292
I recently tried on the Bouclé tweed short scarf coat and I thought the pink color and fabric was stunning. It is the same material as the Astrid bouclé jacket. The coat is even more luxurious when you try it on. The coat is roomy enough in the body that you could wear a thick sweater under it comfortably, but not so big that you would need to size up. I would order this in your regular size.
When I tried on the coat, I did not wrap it around my neck like the model in the picture above, but tied it in front of me like the picture below. I love this coat, but I am trying to justify purchasing another coat after already buying the Felica, Greta and Madeline this season.
Too bad the 40% off outerwear sale does not apply to this coat.

Ooh, Leigh, you rock! Thanks for checking it out. Now I have to think long and hard about making yet another purchase! I really need to reign it in — but what a lovely jacket.
I may succomb.
(did I spell that correctly? prob. not).

I freaking love this coat, but there is no way in hell I’m paying $350 for it.

omg it looks so gorgeous, too bad the sale doesn’t apply =( i really want to grab another peacoat….i have a madeline (in dark poppy, its totally my favorite coat, i found that it’s rather TTS but sized bigger than the lady day), the lady day (in chocolate), and the harriet (in htr acorn) so i want either the ivory or heather charcoal in the classic peacoat…does anyone if it’s cheaper to buy it online with the shipping code or if in the store? how does the 40% off work in the store?
November 19th, 2008 - 4:21 pm
Chloe, I agree…love it but not worth $350….esp. for a short jacket that has limited use in my climate:)
November 19th, 2008 - 5:18 pm
actually, this is totally OT, BUT i was able to buy the classic peacoat in ivory on sale in the store for 179.99 with an additional 50% off at the bridgewater, NJ store so for 90$
they’re still doing a FS thing…so for those of you who’ve wanted it, there’s still a M and L i believe!

Janna, I think this coat is lovely, too. I might give in and purchase it, too.
Chloe, I am hesitant to buy this coat because of the price, too. Who knows? It might go on promotion soon.
Monica, sometimes the sales in the stores are better or worse. It really is hit or miss. I would call the before you go. Congratulations on your coat. $90 is a great deal!
Ann, where do you live?

It is a must have for me in this color!

Does it seem like JC is marking things down swiftly? ie, the pink astrid w. droopy flower seems like it went on sale really fast. ??
November 20th, 2008 - 9:02 am
I think that the pink astrid w/ droopy flower was marked down because of the droopy flower! I had it and sent it back because the flower looked ridiculous! The color, however, was incredible which is why I really do want to get this coat!
November 20th, 2008 - 9:37 am
Yes, I agree. The pink Astrid went on sale due to the manufacturing defect of the flower. Without it, it is very simple (i.e. too plain for me.)
I like things that stand out–but then again not too much.

Leigh, so glad you reviewed this coat. I like the look of it, esp the cut of the back view and the description of the fabric. It is also cheaper than most collection coats. Plus I love pink
I’ve only bought one coat this year so may have to get this one….do you think it fit large or small or TTS? I have a problem with coats and jackets being big but the Collection ones are usually a better fit.
? Thanks Leigh!
Ann, fun to hear you are in the UK - do you have a friend ship for you to avoid duty? My PS helped me the past year I was in Canada as otherwise I would have paid SO much in duty and tax and shipping etc. BTW does anyone else like me feel as though we are getting to know each other through this blog
November 20th, 2008 - 1:24 pm
My parents and sister just keep my package until I get home to get them. I always ask for JCrew items as gifts as those are sent duty free.
How did a PS help you while you were in Canada (if you feel like posting that info.) I have a PS as of recent but haven’t used her.

Hi, a question about the madeline coat. How does the size run? I fluctuate between 6 and 8 ,so which size should i get?thanx
November 23rd, 2008 - 1:42 pm
Hi Kiran!
I am so glad that you found my blog. I would love to help you with sizing on the Madeline coat.
This coat actually runs fuller. I bought my normal sizing and found that it was still roomy in the body, but this is great for when I wear heavier coats.
I would order the 6 if I were you.
I hope that helps you! Please let me know if need anymore help.
Cheers,
Leigh

I must confess, I purchased this coat about a week ago — of course, before the new percentages off!! I am eagerly awaiting for it to arrive in the mail, to check on the fit. Tell you about it soon!
