The Decade Dot Jacket from J.Crew

Decade dot jacket
Decade dot jacket, $298.00, Item 10295

I recently tried on the Decade Dot Jacket. I was really drawn to this jacket because of its stunning fabric. I thought it was very festive and could be a great jacket to wear to a holiday party.

However, the fit is very boxy. I would have liked it be more fitted, more like the Lexington jacket from last year. But instead, it is very roomy and does stay close to the frame at all. I have noticed that many of J.Crew’s jackets this year fit like this.

This jacket would have been a must have for me if it were more fitted, but it is not. I might reconsider it if it goes on sale.

What are your thoughts on the Decade Dot jacket?

although it undeniably is a very pretty jacket..it doesn’t do “it” for me..i hope that makes sense..i would def. wait until sale time!! we all know j.crew can have a great sale!

I couldn’t agree more that this year’s JCrew jackets are running wider than last year’s. I will need size 00 if JCrew continues with this vanity sizing.

I really like the turquoise accents on this jacket. Great to wear with my turquoise jewelry! Also, I prefer a bit more boxier fitting/roomier jackets. I have bought more jackets from JCrew this season than ever! I am 5′10″ so don’t know if that has anything to do with fit but works for me:)

Good morning everyone! There is a new promotion that is is very similar to the TURKEY promotion, only there is free shipping this time, too!!

Not for me, IMO, it even makes the model look kind of fat, which we know is not happening, so, I’d be afraid of that. JC jackets seem to run huge.

I agree with the other comments. But, I have a narrow upper-body, so things tend to hang on me anyway. I’d love a size 00 to emerge from JCrew, particularly in the petite sizing. My height has kept me from a number of really cute items in the past few months! Oh well, I guess I’m saving money. . . but I’d rather have the cute clothes!lol.

I agree with the trend toward boxier jackets being brutal for the narrow shouldered and short-waisted gal. For several years, J. Crew has been the only place I’ve been able to find good jackets. I got a velvet ecole earlier this year and the linen tulip one last spring. (Can’t remember name)
Still, love the fabric on this one with the turquoise. Wonder if it could be tailored?

Janna & Anon> YES!!! I would LOOOVE for Jcrew to come out with 00. According to their size chart, I should be a regular 0, but that’s huge on me. I’m closer to a petite 0 (in suits, anyway – I find some tops are way too loose still). And then the sleeves are borderline too short.

If only Jcrew came out with 00, I wouldn’t have to purchase 0P & complain about the damn sleeves! :)

I agree completely! The jackets esp. the textured weave–like many of the metallic jacquard styles do seem to fit boxy and not flattering to most figures- even thin figures as they tend to stand away (if that makes sense). They just aren’t fitted enough. I almost wondered if it wasn’t due to the jacquard, thick, metallic fabrics not laying well but i think it is a certain cut in general.
