Bellwether, over at Bellwether’s Blog shared with me a review of two items from the New March Arrivals. She also included some real life pictures.
And don’t forget to check out more real life pictures of the March arrivals in the posts, “New Spring Arrivals at J.Crew Stores” and “The Beaded Zebra Graphic Tee from J.Crew.”
Please read below and have a great weekend!
My new favorite purchase: The Washed Chambray Perfect Shirt in Bleached Chambray. I am wearing it for the third day in a row. (I have the luxury of working from home so nobody sees me
.)
It’s super soft cotton and has this great relaxed fit that’s long and lean but not tight. Almost as if you stole your boyfriend’s favorite shirt, and then had it taken in along the back and with bust darts to skim your body. It runs VERY true to size.
It also has those buttons halfway up the sleeve so when it gets warmer out you can roll them up.
I spotted it on the mannequin at the Georgetown Store and immediately had to have it – and they were already running low because the sales associates were snapping it up. It’s that good.
The other piece I tried on was the Boyfriend Military Jacket. On the mannequin, this looked long and lean. On an actual human (i.e. when they’re not using pins to take in the back) it’s VERY boxy. But not in a good way like last year’s Fiona jacket which was meant to be cropped. This has HUGE shoulders – I’m a 6 and even the XS was way too big in the shoulders. Instead of relaxed and slouchy, it just looked sloppy.
When the sales associates asked what I thought and I told them how big the shoulders were they said they had the same reaction – and they couldn’t believe how big it was. Also, the buttons ended up being those cheap plastic tonal buttons that J. Crew sometimes uses on their jackets. A complete disappointment, except that that’s $98 I’m saved from putting on my J. Crew Credit Card!
