Katherine of the blog Tailor Taste wrote a great review of J.Crew’s recent collaborations. Check out her review below. Also, you can follow her on Twitter at http://twitter.com/tailortasteblog.
Topsider, Blucher, Bucks, Red Wing, Purcell, Wallabees, Hunter… all names synonymous with timeless shoe styles. J. Crew’s tribute to America pours into the shoe collection effortlessly. Flipping through the most recent catalog I am reminiscing over the summers I wore my perfectly faded L.L. Bean Bluchers, sans the laces, running along the streams, where our summer cabin resided. Shoes are statement-makers. J.Crew knows this. When I got married in Scotland, being September, there were some wet patches, so my bridesmaids wore their boots.
The new Sperry/ J. Crew men’s shoe reminds me of my Blucher obsession. I’m considering buying a pair in a small men’s size for myself. They collaborated with Sperry to make a sort of Wallabee version of the classic Topsider, theirs is lined with chambray cotton and nubuck exterior.
This comes on the heels (pun intended) of the J. Crew/ Red Wing collaboration, providing lovers of the classic Red Wing boot with a worn-in, already-distressed look.
The current selection for men’s shoes is outstanding. From the casual driving moccasins to the Bucks to the Purcell sneakers, each shoe is an iconic one. What will be the next collaboration?
