i tried this because i’ve been eyeing the stadium-cloth shipley but it didn’t work. it’s $250 so it should have been 30% and it’s telling me to review the code…as if it doesn’t apply? am i using this in the wrong way? is it for just full-priced stuff?

  2. Leigh

Monica, thanks for writing me. This code should not work until later today. I am not sure why this post published already. I had it scheduled for this afternoon. But at least, we know this treat is coming for us!

  3. Jeff

Ugh. I just purchased items 2 days ago.

  4. Jeff

Love the holiday layout by the way.

  5. ann

The 20% off sale stuff runs through Monday (today)so my guess would be that this promo won’t start until Tuesday.

  6. Leigh

Thanks Jeff! I am glad you like the layout. I wanted to make the blog a little more wintry for the holidays.

  7. Lissie

Love the snow…. Nice job Leigh!

  8. gillian

    jcrewaficionada.blogspot.com is the better blog

  9. Lissie

    Gillian,

There is no reason to be rude. A lot of us visit both blogs. I for one like Leigh’s blog and Alexis’ too.

  10. Jorda

    Gillian:
I visit both of these blogs…and I LOVE both. Two different perspectives on a mutual love, JCrew. So keep your rude comments to yourself!!!

Leigh — I love the new layout…tres festive:) Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  11. Nadia

Is it going to be on full-price items only, I wonder?

  12. Leigh

I have been receiving a lot of hate messages lately about my blog and I am not sure I understand why. There is room for many blogs on the same topics on the internet.

CNN and MSNBC report news and is not going to get upset that the other one exists.

Norstrom and Neiman Marcus sell goods to shoppers and are not going to name bash each other.

I am not sure why people are getting so upset about two J.Crew blogs. Please read the one that you prefer. I am not asking you to read one over the other. But reading hateful comments like the ones I received last night and had to delete is completely unncessary.

    Thanks,
    Leigh

  13. Jeff

Leigh: Ignore it. Some people just have too much time in their hands. There will always be those who’ll be rude just to be rude. Too much Gossip Girl maybe?

  14. Jeff

(I apologize, the above comment was by me.)

Leigh: Ignore it. Some people just have too much time in their hands. There will always be those who’ll be rude just to be rude. Too much Gossip Girl maybe?

  15. Lissie

    Leigh,

You do a great job here, and I really appreciate your blog. Don’t let those type of comments get you down.

  16. Aasha

Leigh, I am sorry to hear you are getting awful messages - it is the first I have heard of it. I for one much prefer your blog as it has seemed to be free of the aimless moaning and complaining and is focused on the clothes, but you are right, people can read what they choose. I wish people could follow the old saying, “if you don’t have something nice to say, then say nothing”. I would just ignore/delete the mean people…:) I really hope they stay away and we can continue to have the nice discussions/postings that we have had - MANY of us appreciate the time and effort you put in to giving us this forum. Hang in there….

  17. lovethecrew

Gillian, as another reader here who also reads (and adores) Alexis’ blog, I am asking you to please not make us all look bad by continuing to post in this way.

  18. scully

P.s. Who doesn’t read #13 and laugh - she’s obviously just posted that comment herself, only forgot to change the name.

  19. Lissie

    Scully and Gillian,

If you have some issue with this board or Leigh, don’t post here.

Sure, Leigh can delete posts - It HER board!

  20. Leigh

Scully, please take your negativity elsewhere. I did not post the comment that Jeff wrote. He is a reader of this blog.

  21. joyce

Love the new layout for the Holidays!

  22. Kara

    Leigh,

Love your blog and the new layout! Look forward to more posts.

  23. Hilda

I enjoy reading both blogs. Even though they are both centered around the same subject, I learn different things from both.

  24. Sally

I Love the snow! It’s making me feel “Christmasy”.

  25. Stewart Warren

Many people know what I’m about to say, but I wanted to say it anyway: Leigh, you have a wonderful blog, and more importantly, you are a very nice person. You’ve gone out of your way to be kind to me, and I appreciate that very much.

  26. Crystal

I read both blogs and I will say that the other blog is good but the people seem to complain a lot about everything. I am an employee of J Crew and its amazing to me on the other blog that there is nothing you can do to make those people happy. Ex:they want free shipping always, if there is a free shipping coupon then they also want 20% off, then the 20% off isn’t enough and then they want to use 2 or 3 discounts at one time….they all seem very very spoiled and I certaintly wouldn’t worry about what they say about this blog!
    Keep up the good work

  27. joyce

Crystal has a very valid point.

  28. lovethecrew

    Love the snowflakes, Leigh! :-)

  29. Anon

seriously, grow up everyone. 2 people have the same blog. it’s not an 8th or 9th wonder of the world. what’s the big deal? i’m writing this on the other blog to show my un-biasness.

  30. joyce

I did not post the second comment I am not jcrewcraver, Leigh please delete this comment.

  31. Leigh

Hi joyce. I am sorry that this is happening to you.

I told my boyfriend, who is a web developer, about the negativity on today’s blog entry. One person from the same IP address posted under multiple names. Because of this, my blog now logs if you are using multiple names.

I hope this is not deter you from reading the blog!

    Cheers,
    Leigh

  32. joyce

I am not posting using multiple names.

  33. Janna

    Um, wow.
Anyway, has anyone tried on the black polka-dot pencil skirt? I was wondering how it fits and whether it looks beautiful and a little different, or not?
By the way, the snowflakes are very fun!
Also,do you think the new percentages off, which I think will be starting tomorrow, will be for any item, or just the sales?

  34. Leigh

Janna, I tried it on this weekend and it super cute. The polka dots are super cute. The skirt fits true to size.

I am glad you like the snowflakes.

  35. Em

The code isn’t working. Anyone had luck?

  36. Leigh

Em, I believe this code will not be valid until tomorrow.

  37. Jean

I love J Crew and am happpy to read more than one blog. Leigh, you are doing a great job. Thanks for feeding my obsession.

  38. Anna

How confident are we that the code will work tomorrow, and will it be valid on sale merchandise? I have a big order in my shopping bag and I’m waiting to pull the trigger. It would be nice to have the 30% instead of 20%, but if the 20% ends today and this coupon doesn’t actually go into effect, then I’m stuck with 0%!!

  39. Rae

Hi, Leigh! These discounts are great news! Thanks for posting. :) And you KNOW how I feel about this blog! You’re doing a wonderful job - the snow is adorable!

  40. Karen

    Hi Leigh,

I love your blog. I also love reading Alexis’ blog. I love both equally. Keep up the great work. I don’t understand why some people feel the need to stir up unnecessary trouble.

p.s. Love the snowflakes too! :)

  41. Suzi

Thanks for the code, it works now! I just placed a big order and it will be like Christmas when that J. Crew box gets to me.

  42. ann

The Christmas background and snow effect is very nice! My daughter loves it:)

I enjoy this blog and all the helpful comments that people offer to each other.

It is also fun to discuss the new items as they come out and read the various opinions.

This is a public blog so there will always be the occasional nasty post so I agree it is best to ignore. (In real life ignoring a “bully” doesn’t always work but on a blog…you can ignore and they will go away)

Take care and Happy Holiday, Leigh!

  43. hilarie

Leigh, I have been a long time reader but not posted before. I think you are doing an excellent job, thanks for the heads up on this offer. I just placed quite an order and saved myself a bundle! Thanks again!

  44. Kim

Leigh, I really enjoy your blog and appreciate the time you put into it. It disappoints me that people would send you nasty emails. Variety is good…. it makes life more interesting!! Keep up the great work and have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

  45. Kate

Great promo code. I can’t wait to get my big box of stuff!!

  46. Anon

I love both blogs. — they provide different perspectives. I love JCrewaholics for unique reviews for unique items, while I appreciate Aficionada for providing more broad coverage about JCrew.

However, I am quite puzzled by Crystal’s comment about the crowd over the other blog. I would like to point out just two facts to explain why I am puzzled.

Fact #1: JCrew used to offer free shipping combined with extra % off — at least for the past couple years. And then JCrew stopped allowing it this year.

Fact #2: Have you noticed what other retailers are doing this year? Shopbop, RevolveClothing, Saks, Neiman Marcus, Ralph Lauren — all of these higher than JCrew (in terms of the average price of garments) retailers started offering combined promotions. Even Saks, and even Neiman.

I think those crowd at the other blog who keep complaining about JCrew are those who are actually deeply in love JCrew. Have you seen any other crowd who would bother to complain about Land’s End or Ann Taylor? Because people don’t care about them as much. I actually do have bad stories regarding other retailers, but I just cannot even bother to write about them, because that’s how little I care about them.

  47. crystal

    Anon,

I don’t understand why if you love Jcrew clothes and can afford them why spending $15 on shipping is that big a deal, if your buying a $100 sweater and the $15 is going to break you then maybe you should shop at Target. As for the comment I made if you go back and read all the post on other blog…you guys are consistantly complaining about everything..as I stated no discount or % off is good enough for you. Also, J Crew use to not offer sales but 2 times a year so all these % off and special sales should be appreciated by the die hard J Crew fans that they never got before!!!

  48. Anon

    Crystal

Nice try with Target. But I shop at RevolveClothing, Shopbop, Salks instead.

They have excellent customer service, not as rude as you are.

Nor they charge shipping. That way, if I do not like a $400 Soia and Kyo coat, I can return it without even losing $18.5 shipping charge. And did I mention how Soia and Kyo uses really better quality wool?

JCrew is luxury-brand-wanna-be, but the quality is not there yet.

  49. ann

I really wish JCrew would clarify the reason behind their high shipping fees. So many other retailers offer free or flat rate shipping. I don’t like to pay their ridculous shipping charges unless I absolutely have to. Can I afford the shipping charges? Definitely. Do I want to pay them when other high end retailers like Ralph Lauren offer a flat $10 rate and free shipping with a min. $195 purchase…not really. There are so many other companies floating free shipping no minimums right now as well.

  50. Kim

I agree about the shipping charges. Why can the Gap, Ann Taylor, BR all offer free shipping and J Crew can’t. I can afford J Crew and often buy from them, but I refuse to pay shipping charges. The majority of stores I shop at offer free shipping to you if you are spending a certain amount of $ or they will waive the charges because you are a repeat/good customer.
