robin, I have this dress in a size 12, never worn, I think the tags are still attached or at least available. My sister was going to wear it last summer for her June wedding, but needed a size or two smaller and we were reluctant to alter the dress. It is beautiful, and she loved the concept of tussah or 'peace' silk. We were going to list it on ebay, but if you are interested, let me know.....

There was a dress featured on the JCrew Website a couple of years ago - it was tussah silk and had a v-neck with a gathered fabric rosette in front. It came in a short and a long version. Does anyone know where I can get a size 10 or 12? It was being sold on e-bay at least a year ago but I just got engaged this week and that's the dress I'd like to possibly wear at my wedding.

Shea - Congrats!

Our daughter was *obsessed* with disney princess glitter shoes (that Target sells) last fall and she wouldn't wear any other shoes so we got her a new pair to wear at our wedding (because the glitter scuffs off quickly -- within a day) and she wore those -- they matched pretty well and she was happy :) You can see her shoes in this photo
http://www.flickr.com/photos/lwaldal/2949140647/sizes/o/

She never wears tights and it was a sunny warm day and she was barefoot in her shoes.

Here are the disney princess glitter shoes that she wore

Hi! I was wondering what colors shoes & tights LeAnne chose for her daughter to wear with the crewcuts Alexis silk faille dress in the wildberry color. My flowergirls will be wearing the same dress, same color in our December wedding. I'm stumped as to what the color of tights and shoes! I would say black shoes. But won't black tights look odd? Any input is appreciated. Thanks! :)

I ordered this dress for my upcoming wedding (March 2009). I wanted something elegant, and I didn't want to be pulling up a strapless dress all night long. This is both sensual and modest. It is easy to move around in and can be easily styled up with a sash, a broach, or anything else. Can hardly wait to find a veil--will be so easy with a dress that gives so much room for experimentation.

I am wearing this in black to a black tie affair. I bought peacock velvet shoes with classic gold bow brooches with rhinestones on the peep toe, a big burgundy satin clutch and a necklace with big clear stones. Would also work with pearls. Burgundy toes to tie it all together

That's fabulous! The spanx is a good idea - I've never used anything like that before with a dress, but it'd definitely work/help with this dress. I think it looks really glam with the brooch - have a great time!

Thanks so much for your commentary Leanne. I did end up getting the Cecelia gown upon finding out that the bride is indeed wearing bright white! I've tried the dress on, and I'm pretty happy with it. I agree that it's a bit clingy, and I would recommend spanx or another "slimmer" even on a petite frame similar to my own. I think I might add a broach similar to the picture above for flare, but the color is definitely champagne enough not to be confused with the bride. Thanks again!

Janna: The color of the Cecelia is sand/champagne/light-gold and wouldn't compete with a bride who is wearing white but might compete with a bride who's wearing cream -- if you know the bride well enough, you could ask her - I wore an off-white tuxedo (jcrew, of course!) to a wedding once *with* the approval of the bride :) If a knee-length dress would work for you (you probably already know this), the Cecelia comes in a shorter length in other colors.

ckc: I don't think the Cecelia would work at 4months pregnant - it's definitely clingy through the belly and high-hip area even though it does have a high waist. When I wear it, you can definitely see the whole outline of my body from shoulders to hips. I tried 6 different J Crew wedding dresses earlier this year and I think the Rebecca would work better for accomodating pregnancy (congrats!) -- it has a high waist and then it has more fabric around the belly area - it has a fuller skirt. The Sophia also has a high waist, isn't as clingy as Cecelia but might be too clingy to accomodate a new pregnancy bump. The Gracie is pretty fitted and has a lower waist -- same with the silk tussah rosette gown.

There are photos here of our two-bride wedding with our jcrew gowns (and daughter in jcrew dress) -- I wore the crepe mimi t-shirt gown and my wife wore the silk linen tussah rosette gown:
